Who’s Stronger, Robby or Axel? Cobra Kai Finally Gave Us the Answer

Just the disparity in size ought to have put an end to the discussion before it began. Axl Kovaňvić is about six feet three inches tall. Robby Keene is more like a five-six. There was only one possible conclusion to this Sekai Taikai semifinal matchup on paper, and Robby didn’t emerge victorious. However, that isn’t exactly what transpired, and the more intriguing tale resides in the space between expectations and reality.

Few opponents in the Cobra Kai universe have been as physically dominant as Axel. He is a former Sekai Taikai champion with the kind of icy efficiency that comes from years of unbeaten combat. He is also larger, heavier, and has a longer reach. That physical difference was immediately apparent when he and Robby locked up in their semifinal match. Axl scored frequently, early, and with such casual authority that it appeared as though the result was decided before the second round started. As the game came to a close, Axl was ahead 11–6 on the scoreboard. That isn’t even close.

And yet, it was. Or it was making progress. The way the second round of the Robby-Axel fight unfolded was what made it truly compelling and continues to spark discussion among fan communities.

Robby overcame a five-point deficit in the first quarter to match Axl point for point in the middle. In that round, it was five to five. He was figuring out angles, modifying his defense, and reading his opponent. It wasn’t fortunate. It was intentional. Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg allegedly admitted that Robby had a genuine chance going into the third round for a reason: the fight’s trajectory had changed to the point where people were genuinely unsure.

Watching that second round gives you a feeling that isn’t always present in this show’s tournament fights. Both fighters were scoring. Neither was totally in control. Instead of feeling like a planned route to a predetermined destination, it felt more like a real competition. The choreography was sharper, the camera held wider angles, and the audience could actually see what was happening, according to Reddit threads analyzing this fight. It’s not as common as it seems.

The knee followed. In the third round, Axl purposefully hurt Robby’s leg, ending the bout and giving himself the victory by default. It’s the action that obscures any clear determination of who is “stronger.” It was precisely because the fight was no longer safe that Wolf and Silver had forced Axl to go dirty. That particular detail is important. If the result is certain, you don’t encourage your fighter to cheat.

    Who stronger, Robby or Axel

Who is stronger, then? Axel, in simple physical terms. It’s not really up for debate. He was performing at a level where even absorbing Robby’s best shots didn’t seem to slow him down much because of his unique build and training. However, the question of who would prevail in a fair and complete competition is more ambiguous than the score indicates. Robby was moving forward. He was adjusting. And it was obvious that Axel’s surroundings saw something worthwhile.

Robby might still lose even in a clean third round. He most likely does. A five-point deficit against a fighter of Axel’s caliber is more than just a plot twist. However, it’s also possible that Robby was competent enough to end it, which is what keeps the argument alive. That round, he had already done it once. He possessed both endurance and the ability to recognize patterns. Everyone was unable to get a true response because of the injury.

Robby’s place in that conversation is confirmed by the fight. He scored a perfect point against Axel, making him the first fighter in the tournament to do so. Throughout the entire round, he matched him. Even if he didn’t win, he left that mat having gained something.

More robust on paper? Without a doubt, Axel. Nearer parity than anyone anticipated? Of course.

She writes about politics in Missouri and Kansas as someone who genuinely cares about what happens to the people in these communities—the policies that impact them, the leaders who represent them, and the civic forces influencing their futures—rather than as an outsider watching from a distance. Her editorial coverage encompasses state-level policy, local government, and the national political currents that permeate bi-state regional life. Whether it's a city council vote or a Senate race, she has a special gift for turning complex policy language into writing that feels urgent, relatable, and worthwhile. Sierra seldom sits still off the page. She claims that playing soccer on a regular basis has sharpened her instincts for political reporting because of the sport's teamwork, strategy, and requirement to read a changing game in real time. She's probably somewhere in Kansas City with her friends when she's not writing or on the pitch, discovering new reasons to adore a city she already knows so well.
